Anti-Aging - Compounded Creams

Tretinoin 0.025%, Niacinamide Compound Gel (aka Anti-Aging Retinoid)

This treatment plan contains information regarding the medication that was prescribed to you including but not limited to: ingredient information, interactions, side effects, how to take the medication, how to store the medication and other important information you should know prior to starting the medication.

Instructions

We are prescribing this treatment plan to help control photoaging on the face when used regularly as prescribed. The main action is to heal the skin and further protect it from solar damage. It takes at least 7 days to begin seeing results and maximum results may not be achieved until at least 1-2 weeks. You can use this medicine in conjunction with other topical skin products. Be sure to apply these creams after washing your face with a mild detergent first and before using other products.

Follow Up Plan

When you are ready for a refill you will need to return for a refill visit to help evaluate its effectiveness and screen for side effects.

Your medication may contain one or more of the following ingredients:

Allergies

This medication may cause an allergic reaction if you are allergic to similar medicines or components. If you are allergic to any of the following please stop the medicine, reach out to us and see a doctor.

Conditions

We have evaluated your health history and the specific health information you provided us, however if anything changes and you develop or discover that one of these conditions applies to you please stop taking this medicine and call or message us immediately.

  • Severe Cystic Acne
  • Acne on other parts of the body besides the face
  • Skin Cancer
  • Use of androgenic steroids
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) (females only)

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

This compounded medication has not been evaluated for use with pregnancy. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant use only at the discretion of your medical provider.

Side Effects

You may experience side effects with these medications. These side effects are common and may go away with time and daily use. Itching, redness, scaling and dryness can be managed with frequent use of an everyday moisturizer.

  • Scaling
  • Dryness
  • Peeling
  • Burning
  • Stinging
  • Increased sensitivity to the sun

You should also avoid other products known to cause skin irritation on the area of treatment such as: medicated or abrasive (rough) soaps, chemical hair removers or waxes, electrolysis, products with alcohol or astringents, and cosmetics with a strong drying effect

Some of these can cause dangerous interactions with the medicine we are prescribing you and we will help you evaluate that risk and decide on an appropriate treatment plan.

Accurate Information

We have evaluated the specific health information you provided and are making our recommendations based on it. If you forgot to provide or incorrectly provided the information we may misdiagnose or fail to diagnose conditions that you may have which could affect our recommendation for treatment. Treatment Failure

This treatment is not 100% effective. It may not work or may only partially resolve the condition for which you are seeking treatment. If the treatment is not working, or if you are experiencing new or worsening symptoms, give us a call or message us anytime. If it is an emergency, call 911 or seek immediate medical help in-person. You may need to seek alternative treatment such as those listed below or in the follow-up plan.

Misdiagnosis or Delayed Diagnosis

There is also a risk that we will misdiagnose or fail to diagnose conditions that you may have which could affect our recommendation for treatment. This risk exists with a doctor in-person as well but they may have additional signs and symptoms to aid their evaluation. We use the evidence based practice and guidelines as well as clinical decision support to try to minimize these risks.

Accepting or Declining Our Recommendation

We are recommending this treatment for you because the potential benefits outweigh the risks in our estimation. You should evaluate this information and any input from your in-person healthcare team, and any other relevant information to decide if this treatment plan is appropriate for you. You are free to not follow our recommendations; although, there may also be risks associated with no treatment or self-treatment without medical provider supervision.

Alternative Treatment
